San Marino and Rimini Riviera MotoGP is poised to take place in an Italian town called Misano Adriatico on 8 September.
What to know about the San Marino and Rimini Riviera MotoGP
Established in 1981, the name of the race is a misnomer as the race has always taken place in Italy, but because there is already an Italian MotoGP
It was called the San Marino and Rimi Riviera MotoGP because of the track location's proximity to San Marino. The event is due to take place at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli until at least 2026.
Most recent race
The Aragon MotoGP which was the 12th round on the 2024 MotoGP World Championship calendar took place on 1 September.
The race was won by Ducati rider Marc Marquez, while Jorge Martin of Ducati and KTM's Pedro Acosta finished second and third respectively.
Standings
Martin is placed at the top of the 2024 MotoGP riders' standings followed by Bagnaia and Marc Marquez respectively.
Looking at the constructors' standings, Ducati are placed at the top - followed by Aprilia and KTM respectively as the battle for the 2024 championship continues.
Favourites
Bagnaia, Martin and Marc Marquez will be the favourites to win the San Marino and Rimi Riviera MotoGP due to their good form in the last few months.
Ducati's Enea Bastianini and Acosta, who are placed fourth and fifth respectively on the riders' standings, also have what it takes to win this weekend's race.

"For sure it was one of the best of the season. We were missing this feeling, of being fully competitive again. I always said that we didn’t come here to burn fuel and make laps; at least we need to compete," Acosta said after finishing third at the 2024 Aragon MotoGP.
"It’s true that today was difficult to achieve a podium. Anyway, I was feeling competitive again; I was missing a bit here, and a bit there, but I just thanked the team because they were doing an awesome job.
"I know that the last couple of races were not easy for anybody, and we are taking the pace again. For this, let’s try to keep it like this because they deserve it."
